What is the Jewish Talmud,
& can Christians use it as an Addition
to the Old Testament Scriptures?

The following brief comments on the Talmud have been researched from the article from Biblical Fundamentalist, Feb. 15th, 1994. Aust.

The Talmud is believed by orthodox Jews to have been given by God to Moses on Mt. Sinai. They are really oral laws handed down through the centuries, right from Moses, to Christ and far beyond! The first and original writings were named Mishnah. Later a commentary on the Mishnah was produced called the Gemara . Now, both are called the Talmud, the word Talmud means instruction.

Most Jews are not religious and know little about the shocking teachings of the Talmud. Today the New Testament is banned in the State of Israel, but the Talmud is declared by the religious Jews to be from God, totally binding and authoritative. It is even higher in authority than the Old Testament! There are two main Talmuds, the Palestine Talmud and the second, the Babylonian Talmud, the latter being the most authoritative in Rabbi eyes.

RABBIS AND TALMUD ARE BELIEVED

TO BE GREATER THAN GOD.

  • "The commands of the Rabbis are more important than the commands of the Bible..." (Erubin 21b. pp.149-150).
  • "God intervenes in a Rabbinical dispute and is logically defeated by a Rabbi. God proclaims the Rabbi the victor in the debate." (Baba Mezia, 59b, p. 353).
  • "The Rabbis are greater than the prophets". (Baba Bathra, 12a,p.59).

 

 

WHAT ABOUT SALVATION IN THE TALMUD?

  • "Canaanites who live in Israel will have eternal life." (Kethuboth 111a, p.717).
  • "He who recites Psalm 145 three times a day will have eternal life." (Pesahim 113a, p.582).
  • "Israel's sins were atoned for by the cloths of the high priest". (Zebahim 88b, p.419).
  • "Living in the land of Israel gives one eternal life". (Pesahim 113a, p582).

 

 

THE TALMUD AND JESUS AND MARY.

  • "Jesus was a bastard born of adultery." (Yebamoth 49b, p.324).
  • "Mary was a whore: Jesus (Balaam) was an evil man." (Sanhedrin 106a &b, p.725).
  • "Jesus was a magician and a fool. Mary was an adulteress". (Shabbath 104b, p.504).

 

 

WHAT ABOUT THE TALMUD & THE CHRISTIANS?

  • "Christians are allied with Hell, and Christianity is worse than incest". (Abodah Zarah 17a, p.85).
  • "WHEN MESSIAH COMES HE WILL DESTROY THE CHRISTIANS". (Sanhedrin 99a,p.668).
  • "Those who read the Gospels are doomed to Hell". (Sanhedrin 90a, 100b, pp.601-602, 680).

 

 

THE TALMUD ON SEXUAL PERVERSION.

  • "It is permitted to have sexual intercourse with a girl three years old and one day" (Sanhedrin 55b,p.376).
  • "...intercourse with a dead woman is apparently permissible". (Yebamoth 55b, p.371).
  • "Sexual intercourse with a girl less than three is 'nothing'" (Kethuboth 11b, p.58).
  • "If a man commits sodomy with a boy less than nine years old, they are both guilty of sodomy" (Sanhedrin 54b, 55a, p.371).

 

 

OUR DUTY TO ISRAEL REMAINS THE SAME.

"Christians must remember that the Gospel is still for the Jew first" (Romans 1:16; Acts 13:44-48; 18:5-6).
"We must love our great Hebrew friends and neighbours and seek with all our hearts to bring them to know the Lord Jesus Christ. Who is the literal promised Messiah of their Old Testament, the Saviour of all who trust Him."
